Benson Agricultural Sciences class a hit with students

As he fits a metal door onto a chili roaster he's welding, Brett Bernal talks
about the different types of metals he used to complete the project.
"The
screened part is expanded metal, and I used flat metal on the ends," said
Bernal, who is a student in Gilbert Zamudio's welding class, offered through
Benson High School's Agricultural Sciences program. Bernal, who started the
project last semester, says he's thinking about taking welding in college and
pursuing it as a career.
"I like this class and am taking it seriously,"
said Bernal. "I see this as a career opportunity for me, something I enjoy doing
